Status: Hourly | Non-Exempt

About Us
At Legacy Hospice, we believe that volunteers are the heart of hospice care. We are seeking a compassionate and organized Volunteer Coordinator to lead our volunteer program. In this role, you will plan, coordinate, and manage all volunteer services—making a difference in the lives of patients, families, and communities we serve.

What You'll Do

  • Recruit, train, and supervise hospice volunteers (both patient-facing and administrative)
  • Conduct volunteer orientations and maintain personnel files
  • Attend interdisciplinary team meetings and develop volunteer care plans based on patient needs
  • Match patients and caregivers with appropriate volunteers and coordinate ongoing assignments
  • Utilize online platforms and social media to enhance volunteer recruitment
  • Track volunteer hours and maintain documentation in compliance with regulatory standards
  • Ensure monthly 5% volunteer cost savings goal is met or exceeded
  • Act as a public liaison, attending community events, building partnerships, and promoting hospice services
  • Participate in quality assessment and performance improvement initiatives
  • Provide compassionate education and support to patients and their families
  • Maintain professional development and participate in required trainings

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred (Humanities or Liberal Arts preferred)
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in hospice, home health, or similar healthcare field
  • At least 1 year of supervisory or volunteer management experience preferred
  • Proven ability to coordinate programs and build community relationships
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Able to work independently and flex hours for community events (including evenings/weekends)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and digital communication tools
  • Valid driver’s license, current auto insurance, and reliable transportation
